Transportation Justice Rally, Jan. 23

Fired up by fare hikes? Enraged by proposed service cuts? A kick-off Transportation Justice Rally will take place on Monday, January 23, 2012, beginning at 12pm at the State House, with a planned march around the Boston Commons, with the march route concluding at the Transportation Building to accommodate testimony opportunities for the 1 p.m. Public Workshop (and some additional outside action and demonstration). The rally and march will incorporate a diverse group of organizations include the Transit Riders Union (TRU), The Roxbury Environmental Empowerment Project (REEP), Boston-area Youth Organizing Project (BYOP), Mass Senior Action Coalition (MASC), On the Move (OTM), Occupy Boston, Boston Industrial Workers of the World (IWW), Bikes Not Bombs, The Greater Four Corners Action Coalition, Livable Streets, The Sierra Club, Community Labor United (CLU), Transportation for Massachusetts, Groundwork Somerville, Occupy Somerville, Fenway CDC, Save Our Somerville (SOS), Massachusetts Association of Community Development Corporations (MACDC) and Jamaica Plain Neighborhood Development Corporation. 

Transportation Justice Rally 

Proposed date: Monday, January 23 , 2012
Proposed time: 12pm-2pm
Location: Beacon Street at Park Street (look for the shiny gold dome); MBTA: Park Street Station (take a hard left)
March Route:
12pm–congregate in front of State House--chant/holler; march to Park Street Station (corner of Park and Tremont)
12:20pm--congregate in front of Park Street Station–chant/holler; march to Transportation Building (Boylston Place and Pedestrian Alley
                   on your left. The State Transportation Building is at the end of the alley).
12:45pm--congregate in front of Transportation Building (10 Park Plaza)--chant/holler/raise awareness
1pm–MBTA Public Workshop at Transportation Building–give testimony, critical mass in room.
