Grow Boston Greener Fall 2013 FREE Tree Giveaway

 100 trees will be given away on Saturday, October 26, to Boston residents, non-profits and community groups.  Trees must be planted in the City of Boston.

 

Tree limits:

1 tree per residence

3 trees per non-profit, community group, neighborhood association, or school

 

Tree Species:

*Fruit trees: apple, peach, plum

*Flowering trees: cherry, dogwood, hawthorn, redbud

*Shade trees: elm, maple, oak

*Conifer trees: white pine, arborvitae

 

Pick-up location and time:

ONE DAY ONLY – Saturday, October 26, 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at City Natives, 30 Edgewater Drive, Mattapan. Residents and groups must make arrangements to pick up trees at that time. Trees will not be held for a later pick up. In addition, on the day of the free tree pick-up two (2) half-hour training sessions will be offered at 11:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. at City Natives on how to properly plant and care for your tree.

To receive a tree you must agree to water and maintain the tree(s) for two (2) years following the planting date to help ensure the tree’s establishment and survival, and plant the tree(s) by November 30, 2013.

Tree specifications and supplies:

Trees will be in 5-gallon pots, 6’ in height, and weigh about 50 pounds. Be prepared to carry and load your vehicle with a tree. Each tree will come with supplies, which may include gloves, stakes and ties, a bag of compost, and a bag of fertilizer.

Availability of trees is limited!

Trees will be given away on a first-come first-serve basis.

You will receive a confirmation email by Tuesday, October 22,if you will be receiving a tree.

Trees must be picked up on Saturday, October 26, between 10:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m.

Trees are available on a first come-first serve basis. You will be notified by Tuesday, October 22,if you will receive a tree. Trees must be picked up on Saturday, October 26, between 10 a.m. – 2 p.m.
